Growing up in a competitive track and field environment, I was constantly bombarded with messages from coaches, parents, teammates and the media about how my body should look and what I should and (more often than not) shouldn’t be eating to perform my best. It wasn’t until I studied nutrition that I realized how misguided mainstream messaging directed at athletes is.
I knew I had to fight back by creating evidence-based content that empowers athletes instead of promoting old-school ideals. As a distance runner, I know first-hand the challenges and anxieties around fueling for sport. That’s why my work focuses on helping athletes develop a healthy relationship with food and their bodies so they can achieve peak performance now—and thrive as lifelong athletes.
I partner with businesses and media outlets to create informative, credible, and up-to-date content that is grounded in science and promotes performance and longevity in sport.
